I am a pedal harpist and a lap harpist freelancing in the central NJ area. I provide music for wedding ceremonies, wedding receptions, parties, musical theatre, ensemble and orchestral work, church services, school performances, nursing homes and assisted livings. Harp therapy is also available for any of these facilities. What is music therapy?Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program. (American Music Therapy Association definition, 2005) Music therapy can be used in any setting, including hospitals, schools, nursing homes, assisted livings and private homes.What is harp therapy?Harp therapy is the use of live harp music/ and voice to facilitate lowering blood pressure, lowering respiratory rate, slowing heart rate, promoting relaxation, relieving stress, releasing and expressing feelings, and/or developing relationships. What I do Currently I work with children in a pediatric setting using harp lullaby therapy, relaxation techniques, songwriting, and musical improvisation using my lap harp and other instruments.
